Meet Ranger

Foster Needed by Late August — Meet Ranger!

Ranger is a 6-year-old English Springer Spaniel who is currently living with his wonderful foster mom as we continue our search for the perfect forever home. We’re working within a tight timeframe—his foster caregiver is relocating out of state at the end of August, and we need to secure a safe and loving placement for Ranger before then.

To help you get to know him, here are detailed notes from his foster mom that highlight his personality, preferences, and unique needs:

  • Loves men – bonds quickly and deeply, especially with male humans

  • Quiet and calm – doesn’t bark much except during play or when visitors arrive

  • Takes his cues from other dogs – especially loves following his Springer foster sister, Olive

  • Not a gun dog – very afraid of fireworks and loud noises

  • No prey drive – safe around cats and birds

  • Not crate-able – kenneling causes him extreme stress (important for vet/groomer visits)

  • Sensitive neck area – needs gentle handling and time to build trust

  • Knows basic commands – sit, stay, come (still learning “down”)

  • Leash behavior – pulls for the first couple blocks, then settles in

  • Food – eats 2–3 cups of Purina Pro Plan daily in a puzzle bowl, must be fed separately

  • Toys are important – loves carrying them around and will play tug once comfortable

  • Needs daily brushing – grooming-sensitive but cooperative with time

  • Sleeps beside you – prefers his bed near yours

  • Emotionally sensitive – very affected by yelling or loud correction

  • Affectionate when ready – will give “kiss kiss” and snuggles once bonded, which takes time

  • Adult-only household (no children)

  • Calm, patient environment with people willing to give him time to adjust

  • Other respectful pets OK – he does well with dogs and cats and has formed close bonds with his current foster’s pets

Ranger has come a long way and deserves a soft place to land. If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or adopting this special boy, please don’t wait — he needs a committed foster/adoption home before the end of August.
